I don’t know about you but personally, I hate ads. Even when I design a new theme for this site I was thinking how to get rid of them. Everything goes fine until we put the ads. It mess everything up! The previous version of our site ( V 12.0 ) became a bit ugly because of ads. There’s no much space left for the post. It was covered with ads from the top, left and the bottom.
But the latest design doesn’t have much ads in the post area. Only some text links at the bottom. We have ads in the sidebar, top and in the author bio. The revenue from those ads can keep this site running. But it won’t be enough for us to start new projects. So, we need to come up with a solution…
Recently, I saw how WP Candy managed to get rid of their ads by letting people donate and power the site. They have also posted a nice guide on how to implement their powered by system on our own blogs. Now, we are also going to implement something like that. We are going to combine the old system with this new one. A hybrid system! You can get dofollow links and banners through this system and if you are just a fan of our site and do not want those banner stuff, then you’ll also get a chance to sponsor us! To make things more interesting, we made up a small story… (This is a made up story… A sort of a science fiction… We hope that it will make things more interesting!)
Once upon a time…
We had a website which was powered by ads. But, ads make things ugly! We wanted to get rid of those ads. So, our scientists found a new way to power our entire headquarters and the research labs. They discovered how to unleash the power of underwater volcanoes and use that energy to power our systems. So, we took our headquarters into the sea! Now we are hovering over the ocean powered by 3 large generators which draw power from the bottom of the sea…
Our New Headquarters : This is a photo taken during the day time. The main building is designed just like our logo. It floats above the water. See the three spheres surrounding it? They are the main generators. At the time we took the photo, all the generators were switched off!
But we have a problem… To produce power, apart from the under sea volcanoes, we need a special chemical produced in our labs. Because its hard to produce it in the sea, this lab is in the middle of the island. In the mountains of Nuwara Eliya (in Sri Lanka)! The problem is, we don’t have any means of transportation to transport these chemicals to our headquarters. So, we need you to help us. Can you please help us to transport the chemicals to our main headquarters?

For all three types of sponsors we create a profile for each one. Check this example : The profile page of Cyber Gnome. This profile will show the posts,weeks and months which you have sponsored. It will also have a short description of you or your company (no links). If you choose to send us a ship, we’ll write a review of your product. But this is not a review of your product. It’s only a description of your company and it won’t appear in the home page as a normal post.
This is only the start. We are planning to do more stuff with this new system. Like special contests for sponsors! So, if you want to get all the benefits, better start sending us enough chemicals right now. If we receive enough chemicals for a long time, we’ll produce something new! So, lets start the work shall we?
