If you are using Windows 8, then you might have noticed that the Modern UI apps (previously known as Metro Apps) are only available in the full screen mode. No matter how hard you try, you can’t minimize them and work on something else. I guess you all might have tried to minimize them. Microsoft won’t allow us to do this but ModernMix will help us…
ModernMix is the latest Windows 8 app introduced by Stardock. This cool app will let you turn your Modern app into a regular desktop app by adding a window around it. You can then minimize, maximize and close these apps just like a normal software.
Microsoft designed the Modern UI specially for tablets. It’s important to run your apps in fullscreen mode in a tablet because it have limited amount of space. But that’s not the case when you switch to your desktop. It have plenty of space for you to work.
So, I think this ModernMix app might be a welcome sign for Windows 8 users…
It will remember the size of the app and open it in the same way next time you need it. It will also allow you to pin these apps to the task bar just like a normal app. Need it? There’s a slight problem…
Stardock is not very generous like most of our friends. ModernMix can be used for free only for 30 days. After that you have to pay $4.99 to use it. There is a price to pay but it’s really small. For most of you it won’t be an issue. Some people are ready to pay to fix their Windows 8 machines. But Windows 8 have many issues. Some cannot be fixed even if you pay a large sum for it! You just have to live with it until Microsoft release Windows 9!
