For almost 40 years, the mighty Boeing 747 ruled the sky as the largest passenger airliner. It’s the first airline to have passengers in two decks. But 747′s second deck is very small and mostly it can carry only the business class. But in 2005, Airbus found a way to build a full double-decked airline and make it fly! The A380…
Unlike in the 747, the A380′s second deck extends upto the tail. There’s no doubt… It’s the largest passenger airliner! In today’s documentary, National Geographic will un-reveal the story behind this giant. They’ll show you how Airbus designed and built the A380. If they used the traditional techniques, they could never build a plane which can take off. So, they had to tweak the design and reduce the wight to make sure that this bird can fly.
I said A380 is the largest passenger airliner. I didn’t say that it’s the largest airliner… The reason is, simply, it’s not the largest plane. The largest airliner is a cargo plane named Antonov An-225 Mriya. A huge plane powered by six giant engines. We’ll post a video about it later. Before that, look at the newer A380 :
