The dreaded serial killer Windows 8, brutally killed our beloved “Start Menu”. The Start Menu managed to survive even with severe injuries for several months. But the heartless Windows 8 released several patches to completely wipe the old code from the OS. They wanted to make sure the start menu is completely dead. But why? We miss it so much… The users need it! The PC users can’t waste their time going to the Modern UI every time they want to launch a program!
Microsoft doesn’t listen to us anymore. Our good old Bill Gates have left his position and now Steve Ballmer does the commanding. Unfortunately, he doesn’t listen to us. But he can’t stop third-party developers.
Until recently, the most favorite Start Menu app we had is the Start8 by Start Dock. But recently, they started to charge $4.99 for it. People were getting ready to pay the price because its priceless! But just now, IObit have stepped into the business.
IObit’s StartMenu8 is simple and does a great job. It gives a start menu very similar to our old buddy. Still we have several issues like the Modern UI Start appears when ever we move the mouse to the bottom left corner. Need to disable that to make sure it doesn’t come in our way. I think IObit will solve these problems. They always does.
Currently, StartMenu8 is under beta testing. But its stable enough for you to use. Some say that IObit will also add a price tag to it when they release it. But lets not jump into conclusions. I think they will keep it free or integrate it into Advanced System Care! Lets wait and see…
