Nitrux Icons : A Clean, Square Icon Set for Linux

| Comments

Nitrux Icons

There are a lot of cool GTK themes for Linux. We have a really good selection. But when it comes to icons, we don’t have too many good-looking icon sets to try. The most popular and the widely used icon theme is Faenza. But recently, we started to see some cool new icons popping up. For example, look at FS Icons Ubuntu. A really gorgeous icon set! Today’s new comer Nitrux is also really good-looking…

All their icons are square-shaped just like Faenza and have a glossy look. A really good alternative for those fans. The icons are very new and you’ll find some app icons missing from the set. But Georgi Karavasilev have prepared his own version of Nitrux with some more app icons…

How to install Nitrux :

  • Open the terminal and issue the following two commands :
1
2
sudo add-apt-repository ppa:upubuntu-com/themes
sudo apt-get update && sudo apt-get install nitruxos
  •  To install the spin-off version, use these commands instead  :
1
2
sudo add-apt-repository ppa:kokoto-java/omgubuntu-stuff
sudo apt-get update && sudo apt-get install nitrux-umd

After that, use the Gnome Tweak tool or My Unity to change the icons. Let me know what you think about this new icon set!
