The first screen of TuneUp Utilities 2012 shows you a quick overview of your system. When it comes to maintaining, TuneUp have a special option called 1-Click Maintenance… If you run it, it will automatically scan the system for common problems like registry errors, broken shortcuts, temporary files, system optimization settings and disk fragmentations. You can solve all the problems with just one click.
1-Click Maintenance
On the home screen, there are 3 profiles you can select. If you choose the Economy mode, it will optimize your system to conserve energy. This is great for mobile devices. If you choose Turbo, it will turn off the background processes and give you a performance boost. Really good for gaming people. But, most of you will be satisfied with the default Standard mode.
Next to that, there is a really cool feature… There’s a status bar showing the optimization status of your machine. If it’s not 100% complete, then your machine can be tweaked more and it can perform better. You can follow the instructions on this status bar to fully optimize your system.
Moving away from the main screen, TuneUp have separated its settings in four tabs. Optimize System deals with the system load and maintenance tasks. What you saw on the 1-Click Maintenance falls under the maintenance section. Unlike the 1-Click, these tools give you more control on what you are doing.

TuneUp Utilities have a special feature called Live Optimization. If a background process is taking a lot of resources, then it will be demoted (given a low priority) so that other programs can run without any disturbance. If you start a new program during a time where your system is under high load, then that new program will be given a high priority so that it will load faster.
The Gain disk space section deals with deleting junk files and old backups. It can also disable several unused Windows functions like the Windows Messenger and the Hibernate feature to gain more space. Disabling the Hibernate feature can save 3GB of disk space! It also have a shredder and a disk analyzer which can be used to find whats taking more space in your disks.

The Fix problems section can help you to find and fix common windows problems, check your disks for errors and restore files which you have deleted accidentally!
