In the past few months, a lot of software companies accelerated their development cycles in order to stay in touch with the rapidly growing technology. Now WordPress have also started to follow this latest trend. Just after releasing WordPress 3.1, they have just released WordPress 3.2 to the wild! A Faster, Lighter and a more Fresh blogging platform for everyone!
Just as you update, you’ll notice that WordPress have redesigned the complete admin area. A more clean and a compact look with tighter typography. Not only the look, the new dashboard is optimized for more speed. Actually, the main target of WP 3.2 is to make things more faster and lighter!
The new site even comes with a new default theme Twenty Eleven to replace the old Twenty Ten! Unlike the old theme, Twenty Eleven is powered by the latest HTML 5 technologies.
One of the coolest new features which comes with WordPress 3.2 is the new distraction free writer! Now, you’ll find a new button in the editing screen called “Toggle full-screen mode”. This new feature will hide all the widgets and menus leaving only the title and the content area on the screen. But, if you move your mouse to the top, you’ll get the most essential buttons which will fade in smoothly. But, if you want to get a full distraction free writer, press F11!
The technology is growing rapidly. Specially the web. So, in order to stay on the track, WordPress have decided to drop support for the old Internet Explorer 6 (Even Microsoft wants to kill it), PHP 4 and MySQL 4! Fortunately, most of the modern hosts already uses the latest versions of PHP and MySQL. If you are ready, log into your dashboard and update your blog right away! But be careful, better backup your site before you update! Sometimes, these major updates have a bad habit of messing up our sites. Fortunately, I never faced such situations in my life!
