In the early days of the internet, storage space on servers were limited and expensive, but now in the year 2011 we have hundreds and even thousands of companies with their own servers. Each of these companies has hundreds, even thousands of Gigabytes of storage space itching to be filled. Lucky that we are then to find so many free image hosting websites, and here is a short review of the Top Six Free Image Hosting Websites Today:
1. Flickr
Flickr makes the top of the list simply for being the most popular. Though this site only allows 100mb/month of storage, their tagging system makes this site one of the most accurate and useful tools for finding images relevant to any search, and many of them are HD quality. It now has a smart phone app and dominates the photo sharing market.
2. Photo Bucket
Tried and true, this website is one of the older image hosting sites, and shows none of the wear. It has been kept up to date and also has a strong tagging system as well as 2GB of storage space. It too has Android and iPhone apps.

Image Shack is another of the more well-known sites, providing unlimited storage space and something many others do not: Video uploading and storage as well. No account needed.

A free account gets you unlimited storage. This site even offers inexpensive print delivery. They also have an online shop with many other photo related goodies. Looks geared toward semi-professional photographers.
5. Shutterfly
Another up and coming website, Shutterfly combines many of the features of other sites. A free account gets you unlimited storage, access to an online shop for other related products, and your first fifty free prints with registration.
6. TinyPic
Last but not least is TinyPic which allows uploading of images, video, urls, and has implemented photo sharing via Twitter. No sign-up necessary. This is one site that seems to be picking up steam quickly.
Though these are only a few of many dozens of photo sharing sites, each has different combinations of features that many other sites lack. Out of all of the sites visited, these made my list for a variety of reasons. They are all extremely user-friendly and reliable, all with simple to understand user interface. Many of them do not require registration which makes using them much faster, and lets you waste less time deciding if this is the right image uploading site for you.
