Linux vs Apple : Now Canonical Might Sue Apple!

Canonical vs Apple

Canonical vs Apple

Most of you might already know that Launchpad which belongs to Canonical Limited is an “open source suite of tools that help people and teams to work together on software projects“. But recently, Apple have also decided to use the word “Launchpad” for their famous MacOSX!

Canonical is the same company which develops Ubuntu Linux and its a very big player in the Linux industry. Apple is also a very big player in the tech world. But recently, Apple’s bad behaviour attracted a lot of criticism towards them. First they baned Adobe Flash Player, Next they tried to cover up a big fault in their latest iPhone.. and recently I got to know that they are also trying to block Eclipse from their App Store!

Recently, our friend Andrew @ webupd8.org have spotted another case regarding Apple. It seems to be Apple have been using the name “Launchpad” for a launcher which is used to manage and launch apps on your MAC..

Well, the name “Launchpad” is already a registered trademark which belongs to Canonical Ltd. People at Canonical have stated that they have informed this matter to their legal team and they will do something for it soon. Sometimes they will sue Apple or sometimes they won’t, because even-though the names are the same, the purpose is different! So, what do you think? Should they sue Apple?

Get a backbone, will you! If it weren’t for Apple , Linux wouldn’t even exist. All Linux does is steal all good functionality and UI ideas from Apple and tries to combine them with the Windows “ease of use” feel. It’s been failing miserably at both, let alone the hardware compatibility issues. I’ve been trying to become a Ubuntu user for about five years now, but the obstacles at every turn just aren’t worth the aggravation. I can’t believe Apple didn’t sue Canonical yet. But in this corporate money-driven world it wouldn’t even surprise me if Canonical and Apple were in cahoots.

Hey!  You got it backwards.  First of all, it’s Apple’s OS X that’s based on Linux.  Second, it’s Apple that’s using Ubuntu’s registered name.  So before you post an opinion, try reading the article first.
