New Twitter
Can you remember that we mentioned about a possible re-design of Twitter (Twitter is Sailing for a Change) which is about to be unveiled soon? This breaking news came on April when a screenshot of a new Twitter interface was leaked to the web… Today, Twitter have officially announced about this big change which is not just a simple re-design!
The big social network have decided to go for a change to increase the power of their network and keep their users from moving to third-party apps! Earlier, Twitter was only a service which will allow you to share status updates between your friends.. But, this simple service became very popular and now its one of the biggest giants which rules the world!
As I said earlier, the old Twitter will only allow you to share status updates.. But the new twitter will add more power to those updates with more multimedia support!
When you share a link to a photo or a video on the old twitter, it will be shown as a simple link. But the new Twitter will allow you to see the embedded media right inside your Twitter account.
Embedded Media
Earlier, if you need to get more detailes about the tweet or the author of the tweet, you must get into some trouble finding more details and getting to the author’s page… But the new design will allow you to view them inside your own profile. Clicking on a Tweet will show you more deatailes of the tweet with the other tweets sent by the same author.
More Details
Want to know more information about a Twitter user? Normally, when you hover over a another twitter user, it will show some small details about that user, like the name and the address.. To get more details, you need to go to the user’s profile! But now, when you click on an account name, it will show enough details about that user.
Mini Profiles
Another big change is the addition of @mentions, retweets, searches, and lists to the top of the profile. Normally, I used thirdparty twitter apps like TweetDeck to see the @mentions and re tweets (but of course the old twitter also had these features in the sidebar)… The new Twitter will move these links to the top of our profiles making them more easier to access…
New Twitter
Normally we use third-party apps to extend the functionality of Twitter (because the simple Twitter’s features were not enough for us). But the new design will surely make most of the app users to stick to Twitter!
Can’t wait to feel the power of these new changes? Well.. according to Twitter, they are going to roll out these changes slowly! So, it might take several weeks to reach you. Don’t worry, Twitter knows that most of the users at Digg and Facebook sometimes refused their new designs.. So, for a certain time period, Twitter will allow you to easily move between the old Twitter and the New one untill you get familiarized with it! Nice people, aren’t they?
